A few tips to get the best from Hippie Candles and melts...

  • Trim wicks to 5mm before EACH burn and burn in a space free from draughts, vents or air currents.
Carbon build up is mainly down to flame and burning disturbances. If the wick becomes too long, mushrooms or it flame shape is disturbed by air currents small amounts of soot will escape.  If a candle continually flickers or smokes it is not burning correctly. Extinguish, allow to cool, trim wick, make sure draughts are eliminated and re light.
  • First burn of 2-4 hours.

This is to allow a good even melt pool. If the candle isn't burnt for long enough it doesnt reach a good wax pool and this can lead to tunnelling. Maximum burn of 4 hours a time. Some wax will hang up on the sides but will catch up with later burns.

  • Always extinguish a candle if the flame gets to close to the holder or container.
Containers become hot during use, if the flame is touching it it will become very hot and may damage containers, surfaces, people or animals. For safety discontinue use when close to the bottom of the container or plate.
  • Don't over fill vessel. With our scoopies and smiley melts a little goes a long way.
Over flowing wax will not only be hot but can damage surfaces and furnishings. A couple of smilies or a teaspoon of scoopie will last a few days, even with frequent use
  • Wipe any residue from burners with kitchen roll. Scoopies will just wipe out, smileys may need to be warmed to loosen.
Quick, simple, easy and clean.
  • As natural waxes and dyes are used rough tops after burning, or frosting on coloured products may occur.
This does not affect the performance of the product in any way. Once relit it will become a smooth melt pool again.
